Mafia romance (also called mob romance or organized crime romance) drops you into the criminal underworld where the heroes are bosses, enforcers, and heirs to violent empires. These men live by a code — family, honor, blood — and they don't apologize for the darkness in their souls. Common setups include arranged marriages between rival families, innocent women who witness something they shouldn't, and debts that can only be paid one way. The heroine often enters this world unwillingly but finds a place (and a protector) she never expected.
